Grab your sombreros, don your wigs and join St Helena Hospice for their biggest event of the year!
Everybody loves a good party, the bigger the better, that’s why we thought St Helena Hospice are inviting ladies and GENTLEMEN to help us celebrate 10 years of Midnight Walking!
In previous years many of our participants have chosen to walk 3 or 7.5 miles in memory of a loved one, or because the hospice has supported them personally, whilst others take part for a fun night out and to raise money for their local hospice.
Walk on your own, with your family and friends, with the lads from the pub, with your exercise class, with your work colleagues, the choice is yours ….don’t forget, there’ll be plenty of new friends to be made on route!
This year’s theme is Hats and Hair dos!
Dig out your most extravagant hat, or maybe one which holds great memories – if hats are not your thing, let’s see who can make the wildest hair do or don the craziest wig!
Choose the 3 mile or 7.5 mile walk on pavements around the local area, both routes starting and finishing at a new location, the St Helena Hospice Phoenix Square offices on Wyncolls Road, Colchester. For those who have walked before, we’re shaking it up this year on a new route through St Johns and along Harwich Road.
Along the route, there will be an opportunity for those walking in memory of a loved one to have a quiet moment to attach a personal message on a special tree. This will be stationed at Colchester Rugby Club.
The hospice largely relies on the support of our wonderful community, in order to meet the £8.9 million required each year to run our services, who fundraise for us and who take part our events. By taking part in Midnight Walk and raising sponsorship money, you will help us to help local people with an incurable illness to live well and die with dignity and choice.
Plus you will love the buzzing atmosphere and the feeling of solidarity amongst the crowd, not to mention some of the fun side shows we have lining the route this year.
