Suzanne is running in the Yeovil Half Marathon

About Suzanne is running in the Yeovil Half Marathon

The Chernobyl Children’s Life Line charity’s prime aim is to

bring children affected by the Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster,

of 1986, to the UK for a recuperative holiday to improve their

health. All children were exposed to radiation and are at a high

risk of developing cancer, heart disease and brittle bones. At

home the children eat radiated food; and drink radiated water

and milk.

The Sherborne & Yeovil Link bring up to 12 children, aged

between 9 and 12 years old, to this area each year. The children,

accompanied by a group leader/interpreter, come for 4 weeks to

live with volunteer host families. During the week the Link take

them out daily and arrange activities that involve being outdoors

in the fresh air as much as possible; weekends are spent with

host families.
